Baby Girl Found Among Litter of Puppies

A farmer in Buenos Aires could not believe his eyes when he found a newborn baby girl nestled among a litter of puppies huddled together with the mother dog in an outside dog pen.

The naked baby had been abandoned by a 14 year old girl who had given birth just a few hours before.

The dog,  mother of eight, had placed the tiny child besides her own puppies and had saved her life by keeping her warm during the chilly evening temperature.

Newspaper reporters were told by Egidio Melia who is the Director of the Melchor Romero Hospital that “the baby was just a few hours old when she was found and was in good health although she had some bruises”

It is not clear if the mother of the baby had placed her child inside the dog pen or elsewhere and the dog found her and took her back to the dog pen.

Farmer Fabio Anze who is the dog’s owner found the 8lbs 13oz baby after hearing her crying and contacted the authorities who are now deciding how to handle the situation.

The baby was taken 37 miles away to the children’s hospital in La Plata.

One paper reported that the mother ‘had panicked and abandoned the baby in a field surrounded by wooden boxes and rubbish which is where the dog named La China found her.

Mother and Baby Getting Treatment

The mother came forward shortly after the discovery of the baby and is being given psychological treatment after being hospitalised.

The eight year old dog is now being hailed as a hero and the shanty town population are called the newborn ‘the miracle baby”.

Legion of Baby Twin Boys Found by She-Wolf

Town-folk are likening the abandonment to the 3,000 year old legion of Romulus and Remus the twin brothers who were placed into a basket and thrown into the river where a female wolf found them and cared for them.  The wolf fed the baby boys with her own milk at the same time as feeding her own litter.

Romulus and Remus were believed to be the sons’ of Mars, the God of War and Rhea Silvia a vestal virgin daughter of King Numitor.  It was her brother Amulius who had forced Rhea to become a vestal virgin so she would remain childless and be no threat to the throne.

Legion tells of the brothers being the founders of Rome after growing up and finding the city where the wolf had found them.  They argued over where the city should be built and Romulus killed his brother Remus and gave his name to the new city of Rome.
